What is Secure Storage?
Wills, Lasting Power of Attorney, Deeds, and Trusts paperwork are extremely important documents that need to be stored with care.
Why keeping original documents at home is not safe enough?
Usually, people choose the simplest option, keeping original documents at home, maybe in a specified folder or even in a safe.
Unfortunately, this has proven not to be secure enough.
A client’s home is vulnerable to damages such as a serious flood or fire, and the documents could go missing or be permanently damaged.
Even when documents are kept in a fireproof-waterproof lockbox, the risk of not being able to find the box or unlock it is greater than the reward.
The main problem is that without the original documentation, Executors would not be able to proceed with distribution of the client’s estate, as these documents are needed for the process of Probate.
How can you store a Will safely?
In order to safely store important documents such as Wills, Lasting Power of Attorney and Lifetime Trusts you need a place that is:
- Safe
- Easy To Access
This way, the documents will be easy to locate and accessible upon requirement.

We provide a safe and secure annual storage plan for all of your clients’ TrustDocs documentation.
If your clients wish to store the originals securely with us, the service will be provided as follows.
- Once the documents are executed and signed by the client, you can send them back to us.
- We will process the file
- Your client will receive a certificate with summary of what has been stored, that reports the name of the documents stored and a (specified) reference number.
- The documents can be checked in and out free of charge .

How are documents stored by TrustDocs?
If you would like to store with us we provide a safe, secure annual storage plan of all your documents. The Storage Facility is fireproof, waterproof, and located on a separate site. A storage certificate is provided and relevant parties to your documents are supplied with our contact details, so you don’t have to worry about telling your Executors where your Will is held, for example.
What is protocol if the clients wish to retrieve their documents?
The client must communicate this with TrustDocs and we will then travel to the storage unit to locate the relevant documents. The standing order set up for storage fees must be cancelled by the client personally by contact with their bank. We will then send the documents via recorded delivery, keeping track of tracking and reference details.
What are the storage fees?
For FAPT production the storage fees along with annual minutes are included in the price of the full package. The cost varies between product and can be found on the TrustDocs price list.
