Does your trust provider give access to the RNRB?
Does your trust provider give access to the RNRB?
The truth is: Some do, some don’t.
By putting assets into a Trust, you and your client might be losing out. So make sure you have the right product in place for your client and their estate value. Did you know that putting your residential property into an FAPT (Lifetime Trust) is now the same as putting it into a Discretionary Trust? That’s right. You will lose the Residence Nil Rate Band (RNRB) as it does not pass to the direct descendant.
Choose an FAPT+ Trust
At trustdocs, we have the solution in the form of our FAPT+ Trust, and here are the five benefits of choosing it:
- You’ll get access to the RNRB, rather than only the NRB.
- It enables you to work with multiple properties and assets.
- Trustees can make beneficial decisions related to the Trust on your client’s behalf, should they lose mental capacity. This would include adding assets, removing assets or using income from the Trust to improve the quality of their life.
- After death, the Trust continues to protect your client’s assets for their Beneficiaries.
- It’s flexible and efficient after death, and can protect their family for up to 125 years from the creation date, helping not only their grandchildren, but potentially their great-grandchildren too!
